Tiong Bahru 2 - Art Deco Everywhere


Art Deco is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that was appearing in 1910-1939. In architecture, The distinguishing features of the style are simple, clean shapes, often with a “streamlined” look; ornament that is geometric or stylized from representational forms; and unusually varied, often expensive materials. Though Art Deco objects were rarely mass-produced, the characteristic features of the style reflected admiration for the modernity of the machine and for the inherent design qualities of machine-made objects (e.g., relative simplicity, planarity, symmetry, and unvaried repetition of elements). 
Art Deco in Tiong Bahru, mostly characterized by its vertical line or/and curvy looked that make them look attractive and elegant. Here are some details of the building that I found interesting in Tiong Bahru. They caught my attention in one afternoon.
